What should I do if my Philips shaver performance drops over time?

Published on 14 August 2026

If your Philips shaver no longer shaves as well as before, first check whether the shaving heads need cleaning. Hair, skin particles and shaving foam can build up inside the shaving unit and reduce shaving performance.

Regularly rinse your shaver under the tap according to the cleaning instructions for your model. For a more thorough clean, remove and clean the shaving heads, cutters and guards as described in the Philips cleaning instructions and videos:

  1. Thorough cleaning: How to clean and maintain the Philips Shaver S1000 - X3000 - S3000
  2. Regular cleaning: How to clean Philips Shaver S1000 - X3000 - S3000

When cleaning the shaving heads, keep each cutter together with its corresponding guard and place them back in their original position.

If cleaning does not improve the shaving performance, make sure the shaver is fully charged and check the shaving heads for wear or damage. If necessary, replace the shaving heads with Philips replacement heads that are compatible with your shaver model.
