What is the difference in brewing an iced coffee with my Philips Espresso Machine?

Published on 21 October 2024

The Philips Espresso Machines that offer “Iced Coffee” recipes, are enabled to apply different brewing techniques. Find out more in the article below.

Iced Coffee brewing system

Our unique brewing system adapts perfectly to the type of drink selected. Specifically, the “Iced Coffee” recipe brews at lower temperatures to produce refreshing coffees not toned down by water.

Due to that, the extraction time is increased (longer brewing) than for normal espresso to ensure the right coffee strength and flavors.

While the brewing time is increased you will also hear a different pump sound, because of the low flow rate.

Is the “Iced coffee” brew coming from the dispensing spout cold?

No, to offer an “Iced coffee” instantly with just a push of a button, we brew at a lower temperature and slower than normal espresso to perfectly extract the beans’ flavors. This means that the coffee will be warm when coming out of the spout.

In the Traditional Cold brew method, the coffee grounds are steeped in water at ambient temperatures for an extended period. This process can take up to 12 hours or even more.
